Yesterday I bit the bullet - went out into the heat and the muck and started the long, arduous process of tossing some of the tomato plants that are either dead or near death or gave me what I need....then replace them with others that I've been bringing along in way-too-small pots. So the double row of extreme prune indeterminates is now completely gone - but not all of them are due for tossing. There are tomato plants of various height and complexity propped up here and there, and a tangle of vines and pots strewn on the lawn behind the garden. What a mess! The cloudy morning will provide an opportunity to head out and finish the job...maybe!
