I just took a look outside at the plants and noted that they are growing well and looking really good. One more week of warm weather will provide seedlings that are larger than usual for our first week at the market. See the pics below.
Some of you are anxious to go and have already been emailing me with orders and coming by to pick up seedlings. Please do so - we should be around much of next week if you have large orders, are convenient to North Raleigh or can't wait (or if you want the best possible selection!). Only cucumbers are lagging due to the munching of the initial seedlings - so it may be a few weeks for those yet.
There will also be another opportunity to participate in our little project to breed new Dwarf tomato varieties.....quite a few of you helped out last year by growing plants and bringing me some ripe fruit for seed saving and evaluation. Same deal this year, only many, many more to choose from. I will post more about it at the right time - the experimental Dwarfs were just transplanted. Of course, we are selling nice healthy seedlings of those Dwarfs that we developed that are now released - you will find them in the From The Vine tomato list.
I think that's all for now.....I just found out I will be attending and speaking at the Seed Savers Exchange tomato tasting again, this coming September 1. Can't wait...it was just so much fun last year.
Here are pics of the seedlings so you can see how things are growing.
Top row - basil, hot peppers, lettuce
Middle - sweet peppers, eggplant, more lettuce
Lower - tomatoes (Cherokee Purple, in fact), and the driveway as of just now.
